January 2nd 2022 - When the Morris Park Country Club (MPCC) Board of Directors announced  its much-anticipated 2nd Century Project in the fall of 2019, it created quite a buzz in the country club world in Michiana.  Never had a project this big been done at any of the area clubs.  "We felt it was time to push the envelope and take the Club to the next level," stated General Manager and Head PGA Professional Rusty Mason.  "It couldn't have been accomplished without the vision of our Board of Directors the past several years and the incredible support of our members."

The 2nd Century Project includes a completely new pool complex and the renovation and repurposing of the current clubhouse, as well as new construction added to the east side of the clubhouse. The $7 million project got underway in mid-October 2019 and is coming to fruition after 3+ years of strategic planning and a 96%-member vote of a approval to support it.
The 2nd Century Project is a MPCC collaboration with Mishawaka's Arkos Design and South Bend's Ancon Construction. The project brings to life the largest capital investment in the history of the Club. In 97 years, MPCC has seen renovations and additions to the clubhouse in 1963, 1974, 1981, 2003, and 2013.
The 2nd Century Project upgrades MPCC with state-of-the-art amenities that new and current members are already raving about! The project upgrades and renovates the entire Club which was completed earlier this year..
Among the many renovations – some of the highlights include a new pool complex; golf shop and indoor golf simulators; locker rooms, kids’ zone, and formal and family-dining areas; commons area, event space, bridal suite, conference room, board room, pub-style bar and grill; new decking for outdoor dining and events, and a brand-new fitness center and yoga studio.

The first phase of the project–a completely new pool complex– opened in the summer of 2020. The new complex includes a modern 6-lane pool with water features and a zero-entry area, a new pool house, and a double water slide!  Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the pool was a major success and welcome amenity for all members looking to get outside.
One of the goals of the project was to create family-friendly attractions for Club members, highlighted by a new Kids’ Zone space where kids can be kids while mom and dad enjoy the other amenities the Club has to offer. This new area, along with the new fitness center and yoga studio came online in early March of this year.  "This final phase completes our mission of creating and establishing a Club with year-around amenities," noted Mason. "We now have something for everyone, be it the single member or the entire family."
Morris Park is the only member-owned country club in the greater South Bend area and committed to serving its community of members. Mason, says, "This project is not only a game-changer for the members of the Club, but I believe it’s positive for the community too...The driving force behind this project was the board’s focus on preserving one of South Bend’s oldest institutions well into our next 100 years..."
The buzz in the community was no doubt real, as the Club welcomed 96 new members in 2020 and another 99 new members in 2021.  This demand saw initiation fees increase three times in 2021 and they are scheduled to increase again April 1, 2022.  "It's been an exciting time to be in my role here at MPCC," exclaimed Lisa Chesnic, Director of Membership and Marketing.  "Interest in membership has been even better than we forecasted, which has us taking a hard look at where we should cap our numbers in our different membership classifications."
